Again, the insanity of umpires still being allowed to call balls and strikes is what caused me to lose interest in baseball. I'm all for unions when they are beneficial overall, but MLB umpires union is not amongst them.

So, the batting numbers are down league wide and pitching numbers are up. While most of the chatter is centered on the new pitch clock rules, etc., the reality that I have been seeing is the umpires have broadened the strike zones to include grossly off the plate balls as strikes. Although, now that we have documented proof that several umps have been found to have been betting on baseball, we have to wonder. Also, Angel Hernandez' mysterious mid-season retirement also cause me to wonder if there is some sort of unannounced "strike" or protest happening with the league umps.
